District Wellness & Nutrition

Our schools are committed to helping every student grow, learn, and thrive. That means creating welcoming spaces, offering nutritious foods, and encouraging daily physical activity—habits that support lifelong health and academic success.

Join the Wellness Committee

We welcome anyone interested in participating in our District Wellness Committee.

To express interest: email Robbin Boehmer, Business Administrator/Board Secretary at Rboehmer@longhill.org.

Our District Wellness Committee includes a mix of staff, administrators, parents, and community members who help shape and support our school wellness goals.

The committee works together to review our district’s Wellness and Nutrition Policy, suggest improvements, and ensure that Long Hill continues to meet both state and federal standards for student wellness.

Upcoming Committee Meetings
Meeting dates, agendas, and minutes will be posted here once scheduled. All meetings are open to the public.

What We Focus On

  • Nutritious meals & smart choices. We follow USDA nutrition standards for school meals and for all foods sold during the school day (including à la carte, vending, school stores, and fundraisers).

  • Nutrition education. Schools integrate nutrition concepts and promote healthy eating habits.

  • Physical activity. Students are supported with daily opportunities for movement, including recess, physical education, and activity breaks. Withholding recess as a consequence is not permitted.

  • Healthy celebrations & snacks. Our regulation sets clear standards for foods served or sold during the school day and encourages healthy options for classroom snacks and events.  All foods sold during the school day — including vending, à la carte, and fundraisers — meet USDA Smart Snacks standards.

Public Reporting & Assessments

We complete a triennial (every three years) assessment of our wellness policy to measure implementation, compare our policy to federal/state models, and describe progress toward goals.
