The love of learning, the sequestered nooks and all the sweet serenity of books ~ Longfellow

This is my 11th year in Long Hill Township as a librarian and Futures teacher. Before coming to Long Hill, I taught various grade levels and subjects for 15 years. I am certified as a school library media specialist and elementary school teacher.
I love the hum of activity here at Millington School! It is a thrill to see the enjoyment our students get from finding their "just right" book or participating in our interactive library lessons and Readers Theater. Please stop in to see "What's New" in our Media Center!

Lending Policy
Books are borrowed for a 1 week circulation period and can be renewed unless the book is on reserve or high demand. Students are expected to return materials on or before the due date.
Students having overdue books will not be permitted to borrow additional books until overdues are returned.
There are no fines, but payment must be made for damaged or lost books.
Overdue notices and bills will be sent home periodically throughout the year.
Library Schedule and Instruction
With their teacher's permission, students may use the library during Open Library periods. All students are scheduled to visit the library on a weekly basis. They
enjoy classic and contemporary read-aloud stories. They perform Readers
Theater scripts, become familiar with reference materials, and practice using the Dewey Decimal System.
Students will also receive instruction in research skills so that they can
independently locate information for their research needs.
To further expand literature enrichment, the Library Media Center has a wide selection of multi-leveled Accelerated Reader books. Students in Grade 3 participate in this program as part of their Reading curriculum and take their AR tests in their classrooms.
Grade 4 students may participate in the popular Poetry Break program. This enrichment program requires students to prepare, practice, and perform a poem of their choice. In their weekly visits to Grades 2 and 3, these "Thespian-Poets" bring the excitement of poetry to others using props, costumes and humor. Students will use library poetry books or approved poetry websites to research their poem of the week.
