Ms. Michele Spinello,

Basic Skills

 Millington School

Brief Bio:

My name is Michele Spinello and I am a Basic Skills Instructor at Millington School.  I began my career as a third grade teacher where I taught for three years.  I was then fortunate enough to have the opportunity to stay at home with my twin sons to watch them grow and develop during their first year of life.  When I was able to return to work, the position of Basic Skills Instructor was available.  This position was to be a part-time job share.  It was perfect for my "new" life.  Mrs. Danielle Minerva and I have been running the Basic Skills program over at Millington ever since.  I am honored to be a teacher for the Long Hill Township school district and I thank all of you parents for giving me the opportunity to work with all of your extraordinary children.  They have made me the teacher that I am today!

To reach me:

Please keep in mind that my position is only part-time.  Therefore, I am only in district on Mondays and Thursdays.  I can always be reached at (908) 647-2312 (ext.2005) or at mspinello @ longhill.org .  I am now able to retrieve my email from school and from home.  I try to check it daily and respond within a 24-48 hour time period.  I always check my voice mail when I am at Millington and I try my best to check it from home also.  Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns and I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can.  You may even leave a message with Mrs. Pepe and she will be sure to get it to me especially if it is urgent.  I am currently out on maternity leave until the middle of January.  Mrs. Julie Evans will be my leave replacement.  Please feel free to contact her with any questions or concerns at the above phone extension.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter!

Expectations:

It is my job to make your child's learning experience a positive one that allows them to continue to grow socially, emotionally, and academically.  In each session,  I will give your child the additional tools that they may need to be successful both in school and at home.  I will work closely with their classroom teacher to make sure that we are giving them the strongest support system that they need to succeed.  I want them to continue their love of education for years to come. Each child will enter my room with a smile and leave with an even larger one.  This will be possible because of our small group settings which will allow students to take more risks and ask more questions.  Not only will we be building stronger language arts and math skills, but we will be building  stronger self-esteem too!

Daily Homework :

There will be no formal homework in Basic Skills.  There may be concepts that we feel that your children need to review and these will be sent home.  They may be identified by being placed in an envelope that is marked B.S.I. and that is asked to be returned by a certain date.  This is strictly a supplemental program that is not intended to create more stress in your home.  If anything, it should relieve some stress by giving the students and yourselves another academic resource.
