I am thrilled to be teaching reading in 5th grade. I hope your children enjoy exploring the wonders and challenges of literature and non-fiction with me.

- Yellow test folders have gone home - please review, sign and return with tests enclosed.
- PLEASE NOTE: the next book report will be a biography. This is different than noted in the book report schedule sent home in September. Students should be choosing a biography they would like to read and write a presentation for. Presentation is due February 10.
Week of January 30:
All periods will begin the novel Number the Stars. This week we will read chapter 1-3 in class and discuss.
Book Reports:
All students should bring their completed notecards which they will use for their presentation to class on Feb 10. Students will sign up for presentation slots; presentations will most likely occur Feb 10, Feb.13-15.
There will be 6 book reports due this year. Genres and book report assignments will be discussed in class. Students will know the due dates and will be given an opportunity to select a book from the school library. Personal books and public library books may also be used. All students must present their book selection to me for approval.
