Miss Christie Cortese, Fourth Grade, Millington School

Brief Bio: Welcome to Miss Cortese's site!  This is my fifth year teaching in the Long Hill Township School District.  I am a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Master of Arts in Teaching.  I have a fantastic class and I am looking forward to a wonderful year!

Expectations: Students are required to get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast so they are enthusiastic and ready to learn every day.  Students are expected to follow the classroom rules and be responsible, independent students.

Important Info: * 4C is a peanut free classroom * On half-days we eat snack/lunch in the classroom.  Please send your child without any peanut products.

Daily Homework: Students will have homework Monday through Thursday. All homework is expected to be turned in the next morning unless otherwise assigned. It is the student’s responsibility to record the homework in their planner each day and refer to it at home each night. Please read 4C's Homework Policy for more information. 

D.I.R.T.: Daily Independent Reading Time is mandatory.  Students should read for 20 minutes every night with a goal of reading at least 100 minutes per week.  Students can read any material ranging from a library book, newspaper, or even internet articles!  The D.I.R.T. folder is to be handed in with a parent signature every Tuesday morning.

Spelling: Students will have daily spelling homework and a test every Friday unless otherwise noted. All spelling homework must be completed in cursive and include a proper heading.

Monday- Write the incorrect words from your pretest 4x each in cursive

Tuesday- Review & study spelling & vocabulary words

Wednesday- Choose 6 words from the list and write or type them in detailed sentences. Put a proper heading on your paper and please underline the spelling word. Your sentences may get chosen to be read during the spelling test!

Thursday- Study for test

Math: For topic 9, we will be studying lines, angles, and shapes. It is very important to know and understand all vocabulary for this topic.  * It is also extremely important to have mastered all basic multiplication and division facts *
