Brief Bio:

I have received a dual bachelor's degree from Kean University in Elementary Education and Psychology. In January of 2006, I began teaching at Millington School as a student teacher in second grade. Following my student teaching experience I became a long term substitute until the end of the school year. I was hired at Millington School as a third grade teacher and have been teaching third grade for six years.

Reading: 

Our story for the week is Around One Cactus: Owls, Bats, and Leaping Rats. Students will focus on comprehension, vocabulary, context clues, words with silent consonants, cause-and-effect relationships, prefixes and suffixes, features of a newspaper, and using search engines to find information.

Math:

 

Students will continue to explore Topic 10 ~ Solids and Shapes. Students will identify shapes related to a given solid, recognize lines and line segments and explore their different relationships, explore, model and compare types of angles, classify polygons, and identify and classify triangles.

 

 *~*~* Students must pass 100 multiplication facts in 5 minutes by the end of the 3rd marking period. Remember to practice your facts daily!

Social Studies:

  

Students will continue to explore Unit 3: Many Cultures, One Country. We will discuss how storytelling is a way of sharing culture and understand how legends teach important qualities in our heroes and leaders.

We will also participate in “Stump the Expert” in preparation for the unit test on Monday, February 13.

Science:


Students will begin to explore Chapter 13 ~ Forms of Energy. Students will focus on describing how sound waves are produced and how they travel, how an electrical current flows through a circuit, how electricity can be changes into other forms of energy, and understand how electrical energy affects the human body.
