WELCOME TO 3D!

Brief Bio: This is my eighteenth year as a public school educator. I have been teaching third grade in Long Hill Township now for twelve years.   I have a dual degree in Elementary Education and English and received my teaching certification from Kean College.

To reach me: You can reach me at sdoyle (@) longhill.org,  or by calling 908-647-2312, ext. 2019.

Goals:  To create a learning environment in which children feel safe and free to take risks.  To foster a love of reading in children.  To help develop good study habits and work organization.  To teach respect for others and for our planet.

*** Please note - we are a peanut free classroom.  Peanut products will be allowed in the lunchroom, however, are not permitted for any snacks or treats provided in the classroom over the year.  Since our lunch is not until 12:15, I will allow a brief snack in the morning.  Please do not send peanut products for snack.  For more information about peanut allergies, please contact our nurse, Karen Freeman.

For the week of Jan. 30- Feb. 3

Many thanks to the PTO and to the countless parents who helped out and made International Day a huge success for the third grade.  What a wonderful and memorable day for all.  Special thanks to Mrs. Herda and Mrs. Feinstein for organizing the event.  It is a tremendous undertaking but it was well worth it.  The kids will never forget this special day.

LAL -  This is a review week in LAL.  We will have a unit test on Thursday and Friday of this week instead of our regular reading test.  There is nothing that the students can do at home to prepare for this test.  There will be a spelling review list sent home on Monday.  The spelling test will be Friday as usual.

In math we will continue Topic 9, "Patterns and Relationships."  We will finish this Topic up sometime next week.

In science we have moved on to energy and will study forms of energy and energy transfer among other things.  There are no science or social studies tests scheduled for this week.

CURRENT EVENTS ARE  due on Tuesday of this week.

Character Trading Cards will be due on Tuesday, Jan. 31st.  The information that needs to go on the back of the card is as follows: Character Name, Description, Friends, Hobbies, and Quotes.
