Brief  Bio:

This is my second year teaching first grade at Gillette School.

Previously I have taught both fourth and third grade.

Daily Homework

Students will typically be given a math and language arts assignment each day.

Journal homework will also be given two times each week beginning in October.

In addition, math facts, sight words, and reading skills should be practiced

daily.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

*Your child is welcome to bring a favorite game

or other activity to engage in during recess. We

will most likely be indoors for a few more weeks.

  

*At home, please be reinforcing:

    - basic math facts

    - weekly spelling and sight words

    - skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s

    - telling time to the hour and half hour (beginning week of 3/15)

    -elapsed time (beginning week of 3/15)

    - "Bossy R" sounds - 'ar', 'er', 'ir', 'or', 'ur'

    - capitalization at the beginning of a sentence and

      of all proper nouns

    - use of basic punctuation (.) (?) (!)

 

 *We are running extremely low on forks and spoons in the

classroom. If your child requires the use of either at lunch time,

please be sure to pack it in the lunch box. Thank you!
