Author visit by James Gelsey - Author James Gelsey will visit the second and third grade students at Millington School on Thursday, April 8, 2010. Parent Workshop - Is Your Child Ready for Kindergarten? - Presented by Mrs. Lori Jones, Gillette School Principal/Director of Curriculum and Instruction, on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Gillette School All Purpose Room. Are you a parent who is unsure if your child is ready for Kindergarten this September? Is your child ready academically, but not socially? Does your child have a late birthday? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, this workshop may be extremely helpful to you.
Long Hill SpiritWear Sale - It's time to order your LONG HILL School Spiritwear. Check the flyer for the selection of shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, etc. Orders will be delivered in time for the Gillette and Millington School Spirit Days on April 9th. Orders are due by Monday, March 15th.
PTO Bingo Night - Friday, April 9, 2010 - held at the Shrine of St. Joseph. Over $1,000 in prizes, 50/50 Bingo Game and Basket Raffle. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. First Game at 7:30 p.m. Snacks available for purchase (please no outside food). You must pre-purchase your admission for this event. Reservation deadline is April 6th. PTO Box Top Olympics - Central School - Check the flyer to see the results of the snowboarding competition! Congratulations to 6th grade Team Sumi for their gold medal in this event with $183.00 in Box Tops. So far the school has raised $439.00 in just two weeks. The Box Top Olympics are running until March 24th. Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Grades are separate teams. Clip your box tops and send them in to your first period teacher. The next round of Olympic competition is CURLING with the next collection of box tops on Friday, March 12th! Clip the Box Top symbol that the Olympic Mascot Sumi is holding from products that you probably use everyday. There are many products that have the "Box Tops" symbol - click here to see the list of products that includes Betty Crocker, Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Total, Greeen Giant vegetables, Pillsbury, Nature Valley, Cottonnelle, Huggies, Ziploc, and Hefty.
NO COST FUNDRAISING - You can earn Campbells Labels for Education Points for Millington School just be registering your ShopRite Price Plus Card. When you register your card, you will earn points each time you purchase Campbells products. Register by clicking here and selecting Millington School - 07946. The Campbells points will be used for all three schools.
Pizza Hut Fundraiser Night - Let your dining dollars do double duty by participating in the monthly fundraiser night at the Berkeley Heights Pizza Hut. F.O.R.C.E. will earn 20% of your dinner check (excluding alcohol, tax and delivery charges). All you need to do is print out the coupon attached to the flyer, bring it with you and present it to your server or at the register for takeout. Click here to print additional coupons for friends and neighbors. The next Pizza Hut night is scheduled for Wednesday, April 14th. Fundraiser nights will be held on the second Wednesday of each month.
Circus Circus DVD Orders - The Millington School Play was presented on March 10, 2010. Order your DVD of the production of Circus Circus (an after school program sponsored by F.O.R.C.E.) today. DVDs are $8.00 each - print the order form on the attached flyer. Click here to download an order form.
S.P.O.R.T. - The next meeting of S.P.O.R.T. (Students and Parents Organizing Resources for Teams), the organization that conducts fundraising efforts to offset Central Middle School pay to play fees for sports and purchasing needed equipment and uniforms, will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the Central School Library. All parents are welcome to participate.
FORCE Music Fest at The Stirling Hotel - On Sunday, June 6, 2010, F.O.R.C.E. (Focusing our Resources on Children's Enrichment) will be hosting a music fest to benefit the music and arts programs in the Long Hill Township School District. Volunteers are needed to help make this event a success. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Gary Gianakis at gary@hydradesigns.com.
Long Hill Day at Patriot's Stadium - Save the date of June 15, 2010, for this funfilled evening at a Patriots Game.
Celebration Books - The PTO is offering Celebration Books as a way to honor or celebrate a student, teacher, or family member or special event and add a book to the libraries of our schools at the same time. Check the flyer to donate funds or to choose a specific book from the Gillette, Millington or Central School "Wish List."
Long Hill Recreation Information
Multi Sport Camp - One week camp from March 29 through April 1 (school vacation week) at Roverside Park for students ages 5 to 14. Sport Squirts weekly morning program for children ages 3 to 5 runs from April 20th to June 1. Check the flyer for details and registration information.
Spring Break Tennis Mini-Camp - The week of March 29, 2010 at Riverside Park. Programs available for Kiddie Tennis (ages 3 to 6), Level 1 (ages 7 to 9) and Level 2 (ages 10 to 13). Mini-camps fill quickly - register today!
Spring 2010 Tennis Lessons - Offered for all levels Kiddie (ages 3 to 6) through Adult. Lessons are held at the Riverside Park Tennmis Courts. Classes begin in April and run through May. Check teh flyer for class schedules and registration information.

Winter Reading Club - For Long Hill Residents ages 18 and up. The club runs from January 11th through March 20th. Weekly prizes will be awarded. Check the flyer for details.

Community Events, Activities and Information
Sing for Bling - A benefit Concert for "Operation Bling" - a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to give sparkling jewels to cancer patients during their hospital stay to bring them cheer and pleasure. The concert will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wharton Music Center, 60 Locust Avenue, Berkeley Heights. Admission is $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for students 18 and under.
Open Mic Night - Come to the Cabaret - Opportunity for singers to try out new and old material in front of an audience. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students - Performers are FREE! Open Mic Nights will be held on Mondays - April 12 and May 10. Singers should sign up at 7:30 p.m. with piano music.
Pet Food Drive - Brownie Troop 204 is collecting pet food and pet items to be donated to St. Hubert's Animal Shelter. Collection boxes can be found at Millington and Gillette Schools and at the Long Hill Township Library. Check the flyer for appropriate donation items. Collection dates are from March 8 through March 31.
Tennis Clinics to be held at the Long Hill Township Community Center - Winter Session II will be held from February 22nd to March 25th. Check the Appropriate flyer for the Adult Clinics or the Junior Clinics. Adult Clinics are held for the beginner and advanced beginner levels. Junior Clinics are for students beginning at age 4 continuing through age 10 & up. Classes are taught by Rick Gavornik, a USPTR certified tennis professional with over 25 years of teaching and coaching experience.
Science-sational Day - Spend a day of fun learning about science with Morris County 4-H. Program to be held on Saturday, March 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration deadline is Froday, March 19th. Check the flyer for additional details.
First Annual Birdhouse Contest - Sponsored by the Wagner Farm Arboretum. Artists of all ages are cordially invited to submit an original birdhouse creation. Sumission deadline is April 8, 2010. The Watchung Arts Center Performing Arts Company - for students in grades 3 through 12 (program must reach a minimum of 18 students to run) The cast will perform the musical "It's Saturday!" Exceptional Children/Autism Activities
Long Hill Friendship Club - Children interacting and socializing while playing with peers - for Kindergarten and first grade students. Completed registration forms are due March 31, 2010. A minimum of four students is necessary to run the program with a maximum of ten students. In order for the group to benefit the children, it is best if the students are at approximately the same level in speech, behavior and social abilities. Lacrosse Spring 2010 Clinics - Sponsored by Watchung Hills Lacrosse for girls and boys from Kindergarten through third grade. Clinic dates are March 28, April 11, 18 and 25 and May 2 and 9. Check the flyer for details. Registration deadline is March 28, 2010.

Summer Camp Information
Summer Band Camp - Watchung Hills Sending Districts - open to new musicians and current band students in grades 4 through 12. The Program will run from June 28th through July 22nd (no class on Monday, July 5th). The Program is held at Central Middle School. Piano has been added this year as well as a beginner guitar class. The Lisbona Soccer Academy - For students entering grades 1 through 9 in September 2010. Camp runs for four one-week sessions beginning June 28, 2010. Campers are placed in groups according to age and ability. Check the flyer for a detailed overview of camp activities and the registration form.

Summer Fun 2010 - sponsored by the Warren Township School District. The program offers remedial and enrichment class for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The program is open to students from surrounding communities. Students can register for individual weeks or for the complete five week program which runs from June 28 through July 30. The brochure and registration information will be available in April. Ealry bird discounts will be available until May.
