About me:

This will be my fouth year teaching, and I am thrilled to be continuing my career at Millington School. For the past three years I taught second grade at Millington School as well. I graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with subject concentrations in Math and Science.

On a personal note, I am the youngest of three children and have followed in the steps of my older sister, who is also an elementary school teacher. I have wanted to be a teacher all my life! I believe it is crucial for students to develop a love of learning from a young age so they will bring this inquisitive attitude with them forward in life. I am passionate about helping each child reach his/her full potential and look forward to the opportunity to grow and learn with each one of my students.

I also love photography, fitness, dancing, traveling, and eating :)

I believe it is extremely important for parents and teachers to remain in close contact and communicate often for the benefit of the students. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or comments at any time! The best way to reach me is definitely by email. I check my email frequently and will get back to you as quickly as possible. You may also reach me by phone before and after school or by sending a note into school with your child.

I expect all students to try their best in order to reach their full learning potential. I expect students to be responsible for their actions and their work. Students should complete homework and classwork assignments and be prepared with the materials they need each day. I strive to establish a strong sense of classroom community and encourage students to be kind, respectful, and accepting of others.

I believe that school is a place for each child to grow emotionally, morally, socially, and intellectually. I look forward to an exciting year in which my students will be able to use their personal strengths to contribute to our learning as a group and grow/improve as individuals.

Specials Schedule:

Monday: Tuesday: Wednesday: Thursday: Friday: 2nd Grade Rotation (schedule posted below) * It rotates in this order: Library, Spanish, Gym, Music, Art *

Overview of Homework:

**please check your child's agenda planner each night to view specific homework** On Monday-Thursday the following homework will be assigned: MATH- This usually consists of a Reteach/Practice workbook page SPELLING- (Superkids runs on a 5 day schedule, so a spelling test may not always fall on a Friday as we would hope. Some weeks it may be on a Monday.)- Students will choose 1 activity to do with that week's spelling words, using the list of activities in your child's folder. The list specifies how many words need to be used for each activity (all memory words and a certain number of pattern words, depending on the chosen activity). Spelling homework can be done on any paper (size 8x5" x 11"), but if a student does not have access to paper outside of school, they may always take a piece from the classroom. No written spelling homework is assigned the night before a test. They simply must study, but they may do an activity to help them study if they wish. Click the following for the list of spelling activities to choose from: list of spelling activities.docx D.I.R.T.(Daily Independent Reading Time) - This is a program to encourage independent reading at home, whether it is silently or aloud to a family member. Students must read for at least 50 minutes each week. This can be broken up into 10 minutes of reading a night, 5 nights a week, or any other combination that you wish. This reading can be done on any nights of the 7 day week. Each student will receive a D.I.R.T. folder with the reading log in it. Students must record what they read and how long they have read for. Parents will sign off on the reading, and the folder will be returned every Tuesday for Ms. Liebler to see. If a student wishes to read more than the 50 minutes, that is highly encouraged!

-All tests and quizzes must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to school -D.I.R.T. folder is due every TUESDAY
