The Long Hill Township School District is currently accepting applications for the 2015-2016 Preschool Program at Gillette School. The preschool class is an integrated classroom, consisting of general education children chosen through a lottery and special education children, as determined by the District Child Study Team. There are two sections of preschool classes. The morning class (9-11:30) will consist of three and young four year old children. The afternoon class (12:45-3:15) will consist of older four and five year old children. Both classes will meet five days per week. Each class will work on age appropriate skills in all domains of development and will have opportunities to participate in some special classes such as physical education and library weekly. The children will strive to build independence as they develop readiness skills to prepare them for Kindergarten. All applicants must be residents of Long Hill Township at the time of the lottery drawing, have birth dates between October 2, 2010 and October 1, 2012. All applicants must be fully toilet trained upon the start of school. Regular education students will be selected for this program by lottery. We are unable to accept requests for morning or afternoon sessions, as the children are placed in the program per their age.
All applications must be submitted to Dr. Lori Jones, Principal of Gillette School, by January 6, 2015. The drawing will be held on Monday, January 12th at 1:00 p.m., at the office of Gillette School. Parents will be notified if their child is or is not accepted into the program.
Applications are available at the Gillette School Main Office, 759 Valley Road. A birth certificate and proof of residency will be required for those students admitted to the program and a tuition fee of $250 per month will be charged.
Upon notification of acceptance into the program, parents will be asked to submit a deposit of $500, along with a completed preschool contract, in order to reserve a spot in the program.
